I take great pleasure in creating commissioned works that share a very unique connection to their owners.
My process for commissioned works usually begins with me searching for twigs in a specific location which holds a certain significance to the people commissioning me. In the case of Longview Winery, I collected clippings I found among their vines in order to create two large marble works which now stand outside their cellar door. Other times the locations for the twig searches have been for more personal or sentimental reason.
I will often fill my vehicle with a large number of branches and twigs in order to have a plentiful supply to select from. I then go away and proceed to select the most unique and dynamic forms I can find amongst my collection. Once I have managed to cull the number of selected forms down to my top ten, I return to the owners to finalise the preferred selected form. I then use the twig as a maquette and create a sculpture in either bronze, steel or stone on a magnified scale.
The prices for commissioned works vary greatly depending on the medium, scale and complexity of the forms, but I pride myself in being very adaptable and I’m prepared to look at any enquiry no matter how big or small it may be.
